Nevada, a Sovereign State?
Response Time to Calls for Service- Over the last several months I have heard complaint's from citizens throughout Elko County. One of the biggest complaints being response time on calls for service. I find it strange that the current administration has removed Deputies from the streets and placed positions in the administrative office and pulled three Deputies out of two critical Task Forces losing funding for those positions.
PLAN: Due to the lack of Sheriff's Deputies on the street my plan is to move administrative Sergeant and deputy onto the road to assist in calls for service. We will also recreate the relationship with Nevada Division of Investigations and the City of Elko Police department and partner back with the Juvenile Task Force and Narcotic Task Force using grant monies available.
My plan is to re-establish the Cadet and Sheriff's Reserve Deputy Programs to supplement the lack of deputies on the street each shift. I will utilize the cadets and reserves to assist in handling animal complaint calls, report calls, public information calls and school education programs.
I will reestablish the Sheriff's Posse and utilize their manpower to cover overtime events such as Motorcycle Jamboree, Rodeo, County Fair and special events that arise.
I will seek and obtain private donations to hire five 19 hour employees starting with my own donation from the Sheriff's salary.
